While water costs and accessibility vary significantly from state to state, Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) provides critical nationwide emergency support on behalf of low-income households so that these households are not forced to choose between paying for water services and other necessities like housing, food and medicine.

If eligible, households with SEPTIC TANKS can receive a tank cleaning/pumping under the Crisis Program if it hasn't been cleaned/pumped within three years.

LIHWAP Will End on March 31, 2024

ELIGIBLE HOUSHEHOLDS CAN NOW RECEIVE ASSISTANCE TO A MAXIMUM OF TWO REGULAR ASSISTANCE AWARDS AND TWO CRISIS ASSISTANCE AWARDS.
